There are 3 main elites throughout the history. They are the government, business, and religious elites. Since the past, government and religious elites have been the ones shaping the history. They get all the credits for human prosperity and development. They are also responsible for the worst parts such as genocide, wars, and destruction. Their influences have been so huge towards culture, society, politics, and economics. However, no matter how much they tried, none of these two elites could conquer the world. There has never been a single empire that has conquered all the lands and a single religion that has been worshiped by people around the globe. The effort of world unification has been recognized, but they have never been successful.

In 1776, the publishing of The Wealth of Nations have been a historical moment in human history. The idea of capitalism has been emerged and business elites have risen to change the world which the world has never seen. The world used to be divided into many parts and cultures but has been globalized into one community in a blink of an eye. The old style of decision making which used to be top-down has been replaced by bottom-up. The idea of individualism has emerged. Instead of depending on a politician or a priest, they start to depend on themselves. Economics has become the center ground of human’s thinking because survival is the end goal and no one can help you instead of you yourself. Liberal ideas have come along. Less people say, “I believe in God.” or “I believe my king.”. They progress and start to say “I believe in myself.” or “I follow my heart.”.

Capitalism is responsible for slavery, colonization, and a lot of tragedies around the world. However, it also deserves the appreciation of changing the world that nothing like this has happened ever before. In 21st century, every politician who wants to be elected never forget to prioritize the economic policy even once. Well-being of citizen is always the first priority. The business corporations no longer serve the authority. They are independent and they can play a wild card in influencing the political situation. Development in science has to be aligned with the interest of corporations. In recent years, atheism has been widespread because people start to believe in science more and more, and religions have been left behind. Any researchers that cannot persuade the capitalists to invest have less chance to succeed.

Capitalism has been a bless, but it also has its side effect. We are living in an era of globalization where money is the master of moral and knowledge. If you use money wisely, it can change your life a lot better. In contrast, if you use it badly, your life gets worse and nobody can pull you back.
